# overage_required

> A request charged in USD needs overage billing turned on

| | |
| - | - |
| **HTTP status** | `402 Payment Required` |
| **Error code** | `overage_required` |
| **Resolve action** | `enable_overage`, or `contact_support` for an invoiced Enterprise organization |

## What happened

The request is charged in USD rather than drawn from your plan's included requests, and your organization has overage billing turned off, so it cannot be charged. Today this applies to [transcription requests](https://docs.particle.pro/podcasts/transcription.md) (`POST /v1/podcasts/transcription/requests`).

Included requests never pay for such a request, so it is refused even when you have requests left. Nothing was queued and nothing was billed.

## How to fix

Turn on overage billing. Your monthly spend limit still caps what overage can cost.

Turning overage on needs a payment method on file, so an organization without one gets [`billing_info_required`](https://docs.particle.pro/errors/billing_info_required) first. An Enterprise contract is invoiced and needs no payment method: if your organization has none, contact support to turn overage on.

```bash theme={"dark"}
curl -X PATCH https://api.particle.pro/v1/organizations/{orgId} \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_JWT_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"overage_enabled": true}'
```

Then send the request again.
