# chat_usage_limit_exceeded

> The organization's Radar chat allowance for this month is used up

## What happened

Your organization's members have used this month's Radar chat allowance. The allowance is shared by everyone in the organization and renews at the start of each calendar month (UTC); the error's `detail` says when. An organization without a payment method on file has a small trial allowance; one with a payment method has a much larger one.

Reading and deleting existing conversations keeps working. Only starting a conversation with a message, sending a message, or resuming a turn returns this error. A message already being answered when the allowance runs out is finished.

## How to fix

#### Without a payment method: add one

The full allowance applies as soon as the organization has a payment method on file.

The resolve's `endpoint` (`POST /v1/organizations/{orgId}/billing/setup`) starts adding a payment method; `url` is the billing page for a person to finish it.

#### With a payment method: wait, or ask for more

Don't retry: every request that starts chat work returns this error until the allowance renews. Tell the user when it renews (the error's `detail`), and that support can raise it.
